History

The Company was established under the name “Società Cerpelli” in 1912, and became Termomeccanica Italiana Spa in 1934, with the objective of building auxiliary machinery for ships.

The pumps used on the ship “REX” that won the “Blue Ribbon” prize in 1933 were Cerpelli pumps.

Since the 1950s Termomeccanica gradually became the Company it is today, extending its activities in water treatment and in the development of refrigeration units for ship, industrial and civil use.
In the 1970s it widened its range of activity to include the treatment of sewage and waste.

In 1995 the business of Termomeccanica Italiana, which belonged to the EFIM State Group, was handed over to Termomeccanica SpA with the prospect to continue with the Company’s significant traditional pumps and plants activities, under a new privatemanagement.
A quickly evolving market made it advisable to organizeTermomeccanica SpA into three Companies operating independently, while remaining part of the same industrial and financial group:

TM.E. SpA TermomeccanicaEcologia,
TM.P. SpA Termomeccanica Pompe,
TM.C. SpA Termomeccanica Compressori.

These three Companies are totally controlled by Termomeccanica.

TM.E. S.p.A. - Termomeccanica Ecologia is therefore the Company within the Termomeccanica Group that deals with the construction and management of environmental and industrial engineering works.

TM.E. S.p.A. - Termomeccanica Ecologia was formed by merging the technological assets and experience of long-standing, leading organisations like the Termomeccanica’s Plants Division, the Forni e Impianti Ingg. De Bartolomeis, Ansaldo Acque and Ansaldo Tecnitalia, the latter two being previously part of the Ansaldo Group.

TM.E. operates in two sectors in the more general “environmental” business:

Waste to energy (from municipal solid waste and renewable sources such as biomasses, bio-gas, wind and solar power).

Technological water treatment (potabilization, desalination and waste water purification), both for civil and industrial use.

It also manages services connected with technological water treatment and waste disposal. The Company designs and builds plants by involving its two E.P.C. (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) divisions.

TM.P. S.p.A. - Termomeccanica Pompe is the group Company which manufactures engineered centrifugal pumps and compressors. The company operates from 1912 in the traditional field of activity of construction of machines and plants for water handling and transmission.

Accurate design, corresponding to the strictest international and military standards, appropriate choice of materials and the perfect workmanship of the various components has with time associated the production of TM.P. S.p.A. – Termomeccanica Pompe with a guarantee of efficient operations and safe working conditions. Continuous investments for technological implementation and research on materials over the last decade have rightly placed the firm amongst the leading world pump manufacturers, with prestigious and officially recognized international recommendations. The Company is divided into two self-contained business units:

Industrial pumps

Centrifugal pumps for high pressure, multistage barrel type;

Centrifugal pumps for high pressure, multistage, multicellular;

Vertical pumps, mixed or axial flow, single or multistage;

Vertical pumps in tank;

Horizontal pumps with divided casing;

Centrifugal pumps with divided casing, single-stage, double suction;

Horizontal pumps, single stage end-top type;

Vertical pumps single stage in-line type.

At its early stage, the Company’s activity was specifically devoted to the design and manufacture of compression and pumping machines, for both industrial and marine applications. For over two decades Termomeccanica has been manufacturing screw compressors. According to the increase in technological demand, Termomeccanica introduced in the early ‘90s a new line of air compressors of lubricated screw type.

Today TM.C. S.p.A. - Termomeccanica Compressori manufactures bare shaft and integrated compressors for assemblers of air compressor units, offering Quality to its customers.
